Rock Unit: Metamorphic Rocks

This actually is a really gross experiment so warning!  However the kids loved it and understood how metamorphic rocks are formed.  Here is the recipe it is pretty simply.  This is the package I used for my Rock Unit.

We first put our rocks together on the table.  We realized that squishing them together didn't make it into a rock.  Then one of the students remembered that Sedimentary rock is made from heat and pressure.  We tried to create heat and pressure using our mouths.

Ta-Da! Metamorphic Rock!  Told you it was gross but they really got it!

I loved all the pop rocks over their faces.

Afterwards, we experimented real Metamorphic rocks using all of our senses.

We only have one more Rock lesson left and then we are all done!
