Our Thursday!

It's December, it's snowing, and the kids are SO excited for Christmas.  It was an exciting day in our classroom.  We have a new collection of books on display in our classroom library.  In the Fiction section we have all things Christmas, and in the non-fiction section we have a wonderful array of animal books.

I bought a new craft for the kids to enjoy... Rainbow Looms!  The kids were so excited to see this new craft they can create with.  Lots of the children were familiar with how to create the basic pattern and taught others how to do it.  I can see the students already looking in the manual for more advanced patterns.  It's a great fine motor skill craft!

Today in art we learned how to draw a realistic face.  We talked about what we think things should look like in our minds and instead really look at the thing you are trying to draw.  The kids had lots of fun looking at themselves and their friends seeing that our eyes aren't circles but ovals, and our nose isn't a triangle but lots of little shapes put together.  We completed our masterpieces with watercolour and I am so excited to get these on display.

It was Liebel Loot today!  The kids were SO excited to buy some "new to them" toys from our classroom store.  Some children chose to save their money and it was hard for them to do but they did it!  And next month they hopefully will have enough to get their item.

Have a great weekend everyone!
