Field Trip!

Last Thursday, we took a field trip to the Kelowna Art Gallery, the beach, and the Safety Village.  Our first stop was KAG where we given a tour of the exhibit, The Big Picture.  Amazing that all the artwork in this exhibit was made by Canadians.  The children were mesmerized by their large scale and drawn into all the colour.

This was such a sweet little exhibit to see.  I will look up the artists name but he built it in the art gallery.  Reminded us all of Andy Goldsworthy's art and the kids loved the playfulness of it.  We were even give the opportunity to walk through it.  We all agreed we needed one of these at Big White.

After our tour, we headed to the "art lab" to create our own artwork inspired by one of the paintings we say on our tour.  The children were only allowed to use one colour and as they painted upward mixed in white to create a foreground and background effect.

They were busy bees and very focused.  Apparently, after the art gallery it got really busy because I didn't capture any pictures from the beach or the Safety Village.  We had a wonderful day and all the children left inspired to come back and do more artwork, or to see the next exhibit.

Amazingly these students funded this trip completely on their own with the money they earned from the Young Entrepreneur Show.  They all voted on what they would like to do on our field trip and afterwards they all agreed they made the right choice!  Well done Juniors!
