The First Two Days

We have been busy in our classroom and I thought I would share a little bit of what we have been up to.
The painting above the window is a Herve Tullet inspired piece we did on our first day of school.  The children had to work together collaboratively to finish this one off!  They were all very excited to see it hanging up in our classroom.

We have new math provocation centres for the kids to explore.  We are learning all about patterns this month and what better way for the kids to understand patterns than to explore with materials.  Funny enough we haven't had a chance yet to play with these materials but I am hoping this will begin tomorrow!

We practiced our numbers.  I wanted to make sure the children were starting their numbers from the top and writing downwards.  They were all so focused on making beautiful numbers.

Afterwards, we learned how to play a game call BUMP.  This one in particular is called Welcome Back Bump.  It's a great game to play at home too!  You need three dice (Gr. 3 version of adding 3 dice) and some sort of manipulative to put on the board.   Here is the link so you can download this board game, learn it, and play it at home.

Stay tuned for more fun in our classroom...
