Growth Mindset and Art... two of my favourite things!

I brought in some pattern art some originating from Australia's Aboriginal art.  The kids were inspired to create their own.

Thanks to a lovely parent helper we have them up in our classroom for everyone to enjoy!  They did such an amazing job on them and should be very proud of their pieces.  They were done with acrylic paint and Q-tips.

We are starting to use language in our classroom like green and red light thinking but also fixed and growth mindset.  I hope you are hearing these words from your children at home.  They have only been introduced to the topic and we are going to dive deeper into growth mindset in the weeks to come.  Google "growth mindset" to learn more and ask your child what they think it means.

I will apologize in advance for the over abundance of yarn art parents are receiving from school right now but they are addicted!!! I have never seen them so engaged, and loving the challenge to expand their creativity on how to make each one different.  They couldn't get enough of this craft during art this week that we will be leaving it out as a centre in our classroom.  Also, next week we will be the teachers and show the Grade 1 buddies how to make them.  They are experts now!
