Plasticine Art with Barbara Reid

Today in art we started learning about the author and illustrator, Barbara Reid.  We watched a video on how she makes her children's books (specifically The Subway Mouse).  We started the tedious process of creating a background.  The kids learned how to make a blended sky, how to make clouds, how to make it look like the sun is setting, and more.  We are going to continue on Monday with the grass and dirt however this is what we got down today.
We started to make the sky.

Below are some examples of various grades start to a sky:
Alexandra Grade 5

Vanessa Grade K

Alexandria Grade 2

Jonathan Grade 8

So far, we are off to a great start.
Here is the example I made for the steps I have the kids following.  The kids love working with plasticine!  They think it is kind of cool that Barbara Reid can make a living off of creating art with plasticine.

I love your work. For your fathers day cards with "I love you dad because" and a picture, I am wondering how did you join them together? What app did you use to join the quote and photograph together before printing or did you just do it in word?

Thanky ou for your help
