Apple Juice Making

Today we made apple juice. Mr. Owen came up to teach us the process of making this amazing juice. We had such a great time.   I know I sure learned a lot.

Step 1: cleaning the apples.  We washed the apples in a big bucket and threw out the rotten apples.

We had a mix of two kinds of apples: Macintosh and Ambrosia

Here we are sorting the clean apples and taking them out of water.

Step 2:  The apples are put through a chopper.  This machines chops all the apples into tiny pieces.

Step 3:  The apples are put into a sac (sort of like a pillow case) and then spun in a washing machine... YES can you believe it!  Mr. Owen is one smart guy and make a juicer out of a old washing machine.

This is what comes out of the sac after it has been spun.  All the water is taken out.

Voila! You have a apple juice.

We made sixteen 4 Litre jugs.  We each were able to take one home!

We loved the natural taste of apples!

Thank you Mr. Owen for showing us how to make apple juice.  Thank you to Joy and Miranda for helping us.
