Chlorophyll Rubbing

First off, YES we are crazy!  We have probably two feet of snow outside and we went on a search for leaves.  Thankfully the snow just came in the last week or so and the leaves are still very green.  There are not very many leaves but the ones that were out there we grabbed.

We learned all about photosynthesis and the process it needs to create sugar.  We were so excited to smear chlorophyll all over our papers.

Jack even grabbed the small weed around the school.

We then brought out leaves indoor and dried them.  We used a metal spoon and started rubbing!

We used a bunch of different leaves.  We loved trying the fuzzy ones, long skinny ones, and the fat ones.  We even tried pine needles.  The kids loved making a gooey mess.
