We went for a school trip yesterday to Vernon. First off, the bus taking us was a big deal. Most students get to school by skiing, biking, walking, the gondola, dog sled but never NEVER on a school bus. So they were so excited to be on a bus with their Beaverdell penpals. This opportunity that we are so thankful for was made possible by Christa and Chad Joe. Thank you so much for kind donation!
Here we are... all 30 of us! (Beaverdell + Big White)
Kevin from the VSC was an amazing host. He knew everything and anything about constellations.
Some of us even had the chance to visit Space in a Space Suit.
While others learned how to fly a plane.
Thanks Sheldon for coming and helping us on this field trip. Here the students were learning how to fly airplanes.
Thanks Kim for coming and helping us on this field trip. The students loved this centre. They were using all different types of mechanics to run their little factory.
Oh, and did I forget to mention we ran into Chris Hadfield!
These were really cool. Tin cans with the constellations punched in at the bottom. If you shine a flashlight through the can onto a wall the constellation appears. Dad!!!! I have a new project for you! (insert eye bat and smile). I found the constellation patterns here if you are interested in making your own.
Seth and Jack play with this amazing spaceship home. If you are interested in this spaceship I found it on amazon here.
A model of the International Space Station.
A model of a Space Ship.
Lucy experienced what it would be like in Space. She wasn't allowed to use her feet and was told to do a bunch of work on the space ship.
This was really fun for this group. They dressed up in space suits and were pretending to float in space. The space suit can be found here.
Sam was an alien!
This might be my favourite picture of the day. The students acting out an alien attack. They set the whole thing up and I just came in at the end.
The Space crew all together.
We sure had a fun day! Thanks to all the parents who dropped us off or picked us up at the Turn-Off. We are so, so lucky to have such amazing help/parent support at our school!
