We have started our part two booklet about Stars. We began our star talk with what we already know about stars (and yes they sure know a lot already about stars). Then we read the beginning part of our chapter. What I love is that the kids have to read the article then not take keywords from book but ask questions about stars that aren't answered in the book. Right away, they become active readers and start some deep thinking. Below is a great example from Grade 2 (and I just love that he graded his own paper A+ haha).
Next, we created constellation books.
Then we watched Sees Stars with Magic School Bus. When the kids finished their science work I have them working on this Space Book. I bought this resource here and it's on sale right now. It is absolutely amazing these little posters. The kids love the drawings and they will each get a little laminated mini copy of these posters as a space gift when they finish the unit.
Stay tuned for more star talk!
