Sound Maps

We started our science unit today learning about Native Plants at Big White.  Our first lesson was about slowing down and taking a closer look about the world around us.  We used our ears to honestly listen to the world around us.  I don't think I have ever seen them so quiet.  They were absolutely astonished by the sounds they could hear from the chirping birds to the swooshing wind.  We then listed our favourite sounds and how they make us feel.

The lesson was taken from Playful Learning's elesson Backyard Science Investigations.

We even shut our eyes and really listened to the world around us.

Thank you Pete for coming in today and giving us a informative talk on plants in our area.  We are so lucky to have a parent with so much knowledge about plants and much more.
