I was inspired after viewing this blog post on Playful Learning. I knew with the amazing backyard we have we could create some beautiful pieces of art. I am hoping my students will get creative and find some neat things in the forest.
Lesson Plan
I started my art lesson with a Prezi that I created. Click Here to view it. This was the best part of the lesson. The students were really inspired when seeing Andy create his art. I recommend watching the video just to understand Andy's art. He is absolutely amazing and so insightful.
Here is another video that I found. If you type in "Andy Goldsworthy" in youtube you will find a lot of examples. This website has a great showcase of children's artwork representing Andy Goldsworthy.
I have never seen the students work so hard in my life. They were all dispersed around the school, forest, stream area (yes, we have a stream in our backyard). They were focused and creative! I was so proud of the kiddos of their creations. If you ask them about their work they can describe so many different things about their pieces. We thought of size, shape, colour, angle, depth, etc. The kids even thought about the shadow and where it cast on their art. These images will be enlarged with hopes to be framed for their homes. WARNING! Dad's don't read this! These will be the student's Father's Day gifts.
