Well, I missed a day yesterday and so I am making up for it in this post. We have been busy learners in our classroom. We are continuing to learn about Matter in our classroom. We are learning that everything is made up Matter and atoms make up Matter. We then went as far as molecules are atoms put together. It's tricky to explain it in words but it's easier to show you!
Here is a solid! The "molecules" are tightly bound together and can't move.
Here is a liquid! They can move freely and take shape of their container (the mat).
Here is Gas! They move freely and quickly and don't hold any shape. They liked being gas the best (if you can believe it).
We then discussed it as a class and put it in writing by making these wonderful posters. This is what the Grades 1-3 posters look like.
Here is an example of a Kindergarten students poster.
We were so lucky today to get to witness a volcano erupting. One of our Student's Mom's came in today to share her daughter's pre-school learning. We all were very impressed with the clay-made volcano.
It erupted but it wasn't as big of an eruption we were hoping for. We talked about ways we could maybe improve this for next time. Thanks again for bringing in your volcano!
In FRIENDS we learned about cooperating and working together. This was a difficult task for some students but we had to work as a team to create one fantastic creature. We had only one marker and we each took a turn drawing on the poster. We each added something to the poster. Some students (I would be this student) really wished they could do it on their own but they all managed to stick with the task and they all ended up enjoying the end result. Tomorrow we are going to share our creatures and their fantastic qualities.
Mr. D captured a few pictures of us skating today. It was a foggy day to ski but a perfect day to skate. We are sure enjoying our skating lessons.
I leave you with our finished art from last week. I still need to add their own watercolour paintings that they did after they were done these ones. Some still are working on them. They are so bright and beautiful these paintings! They are on display in the hallway so please come in and take a look. I know lots of students who would love to show you them!
