Today is Our 100th Day of School

"100 is when you mostly die so that's the zombie stage (proceeds to walk around like a dead zombie)."  This was just one of the many wonderful, quirky, and cute thoughts floating around today in our classroom.  Let me tell you these kids are not scared about getting old.

Today was a very special day in our classroom.  We celebrated our 100th day of school.  So in the spirit of 100, some of us dressed like we were 100 years old.  We also walked through our 100 tassels   entrance sign.

We also used an app to make us look like we are 100.  Some of the kids are really scared to see themselves look like that so it was optional.  Lots of them laughed and thought they looked really old haha.  I sent them home with the students who wanted them.
Here is what Finn would look like when he turns 100 haha.

We also did a math game called Roll to 100.  We played against a player and tried to get to 100 first.

We created projects using 100 items.  These projects were done at home and brought to school.  They were absolutely amazing and I was blown out of the water.  So many creative ways to display 100.  The kids absolutely loved sharing their work and the process they used to make them.

Finally, last but not least.  Our Science display is finished!!! We have been dying to put this out for everyone to enjoy and now it is ready to be displayed.  We will be heading out tomorrow into the forest to put it up.  The kids worked hard on this display so I hope it works out.

You may ask how did this come to be.  Well, it was completely decided upon by the kids on how they wanted to display their learning.  I typically would create a big book of their learning for the classroom but they had bigger plans.  From the shouting and discussion, an outdoor exhibit idea was brainstormed, then the idea of making it waterproof, and finally putting together their favourite lessons to showcase their learning.  I captured some photos and dialogue to go with their work but it is completely done by them.  I would NEVER have thought to make an outdoor display but the kids noticed that not everyone comes into our school but EVERYONE is outside haha so this display is meant for everyone.  So please come find this wonderful display somewhere around the forest near our school!
